wednesday wanderings

If I had to split my blog reading into groups,
I’d say about 1/4 of them are sewing/quilting related blogs.
Not quite sure how I ended up with so many.
{not quite sure I’m not super embarrassed to mention that}

Well it seems that every last one of them have hopped on the Farmer’s Wife Quilt-a-long bandwagon.
{because farmers, their wives, and quilters are all keen on hopping on any type of wagon}

It’s hosted by Angela of Fussy Cut and Amanda of MsMcporkchops¬† over at flickr.
They are slowly making their way through The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt book, 2 blocks a week.
There are 111 blocks so it is a REALLY long-term project.

At first the quilt-a-long didn’t appeal to me but then I see some of the awesome blocks the 759 ladies in the group are busting out and I want to join the party too!
{excuse the nerdery}
They are 9 weeks in (gulp) so I’m way behind, but I like the thought of producing a quilt over a long period of time versus my usual super-fast pace.
Amanda also mentioned on her blog that there were templates for foundation paper piecing templates at the Yahoo group and that pretty much has pushed me over.
I’ve wanted to start foundation paper piecing blocks but didn’t have a project to justify it.
Hopefully it will be a stash buster, although I’m tempted to do a monochromatic theme in all grays.
We’ll see and I’ll keep you posted!
Maybe I can get Melanie to join me?

Happy wanderings!
